Two hours west of Dallas, Mary's Cafe in sleepy Strawn is destination dining. Texans flock to this low-slung building – a former 1920s service station built of stone and flanked by large, boxy wooden additions – to partake of Mary Tretter's home cooking in general and her chicken-fried steak in particular.
